Pressing Forward Toward Resolution...

Hamburgers and French Fries...

Resolution - to formally express an intention!

Last week I told you one of my resolutions was not to eat french fries. I must tell you that to date I have pulled that off!! And last week I ate a hamburger, without cheese mind you, and I gave my french fries away! Yes, you heard me, I gave my french fries away!

As for soda - none as of today. As for running, I am underway!
As I commit to resolutions I constantly remind myself that I must press forward to the goal. I cannot look back, and pressing forward is a lot easier said than done!!

See You At The Top'>

One of my favorite speakers and authors is Zig Ziglar. In his book, See You At The Top, he creates a formula for hitting goals.

Three points from that book that ring out in my mind as I press forward toward resolution are:

  1. Goals must be written down!
  2. I must do the actions to in order to acquire the feelings of success.
  3. I must not wait for external conditions to change to start pressing toward my goals!!!

If you haven't read the book See You At The Top, I strongly suggest it and it is my pick of the week!!

Have a good week!!

Resolutions 2008

I love January 2nd. I often say it is the day that most of us become a liar. Oh yes, the resolutions sound great on New Year's Eve, but reality often hits shortly after!

I asked last week... What does resolution mean?

According to dictionary.com, resolution is a formal expression of opinion or intention made. (As you can imagine, there are many definitions, but I like this one the best.)

So my intentions for 2008:
  1. Run 6 miles per week!
  2. Eat only grilled meats - nothing fried.
  3. Consume no french fries.
  4. Consume no sodas!!

Pretty simple!! I will keep you all posted on my progress, and please, say a prayer for me as I will need strength, especially when it comes to the french fries!!

Appreciation

Encouragement Cont'd...

This past week I received an email from Mac Anderson. Mac owns and operates Simple Truths. In his email was a link to their latest release The Appreciation Movie. I would like to invite you to follow the link and watch this short three minute movie!

The New Year...

2008 is right around the corner! I have two questions for you to consider:

  1. What does "resolution" really mean?
  2. Are you willing to post your resolutions for all to see?

Have a happy and safe New Year!!!

Encouragement

Hopefully you have read my latest article: "A Leader's Greatest Gift."

I cannot tell you how important encouragement is to me! I thrive on it. What I find funny about myself is that I know the value of encouragement however, I often fail to pass it on. Keeping that in mind, I have made it my goal to provide encouragement to at least one person everyday for the next six weeks. My hope is that encouraging others will become a habit. While that seems easy, I know it will be a challenge.

Like it or not, our world is negative! We are bombarded with all types of negative media and messages. However, I am in for the fight and at least ready to change the world around me. So, I have made my list of people that I will encourage in the next few weeks! I am already writing the notes and preparing to send out the greatest gift I can give - ENCOURAGEMENT!

So, as you read my random thoughts on encouragement, I have two questions for you to ponder.
  1. Do you need to be encouraged?
  2. Do you encourage others?

As I close up shop I ask that we all keep in mind that "praise" and "encouragement" are different. (More on that next week!)

Lastly, I would like for any of you to post any anecdotal stories or thoughts based on encouragement. Feel free to leave an encouraging for any you wish and then send them here to read it!! I do not mind being the "encouragement" hub. In fact, I am going to sign off and see if "encourage.blogspot" is available. If it is, I will get it!!!

I hope you all have a great holiday season!!
